From the cover of TV Guide to one of People's “Sexiest Men Alive,” it’s clear that in a short period of time Quddus has truly gone from a hardly pronounceable name to a bona fide player in the game.  As one of the hosts of Total Request Live (TRL), MTV’s wildly popular music video countdown show, he has interviewed some of the biggest stars in the worlds of music, TV and film including Beyonce, the cast of the OC and Samuel L. Jackson.  He’s been enlisted for the VMA’s, Fashionably Loud, MTV’s New Year’s Eve Bash and hosted a range of other shows including MTV Hits, Morning After and his own show, MTV Soul.  Quddus’ voice has also impacted the radio with his nationally syndicated show, TRL Weekend Countdown.

Quddus’ passion for music was initially expressed from behind the turntables where he was known on his local hip hop scene for his mixtapes.   While studying philosophy at the University of Ottawa, he co-hosted and spun for a radio show at the campus station, CHUO 89.1FM.  In 1999, Quddus signed with Elite Model Management which brought him back to his birthplace of Toronto.  He got his first break in television as a co-host and writer of TV Ontario’s youth culture program, VOX, which would go on to win a Gemini award (the Canadian equivalent of an Emmy).  During this period Quddus also dabbled in acting, starring in commercials for McDonald’s and Honda.

Quddus' interest in people has always gone beyond simply entertaining them since spending his teenage years as a counselor for the Boys & Girls Club and a volunteer coach/organizer of a midnight basketball program for street youth at the YMCA.   He has continued taking initiative in altruistic causes by helping out with benefits which have raised funds for Children at Heart, the Make a Wish Foundation, and the children of Chernobyl.  He has also been the key note speaker at summits to promote literacy and mediated forums for Aids awareness.  Considering his socially conscious nature, it is no coincidence his Persian name means ‘man of peace.’  If that occurs to you as almost poetic, it will be no surprise to learn that he’s also a spoken word poet.  Quddus also plays basketball and is currently studying acting to prepare himself for his next challenge.
