Maria Chambers started her career as an afternoon drive jock, but was soon snatched up to become one of the first few females to make rank as an official "Morning Man." Chambers put in more than five years headlining mornings, first serving the Albany market (WEQX) then at Long Island’s heritage alternative WLIR hitting New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut. Plans to make her way back home to the Boston area were hijacked when Chambers was offered a gig as the premiere host of VH1’s online radio station, VH1 atWork, in 1999. Chambers has been with MTV Networks ever since, taking on the Program Director role to launch VH1’s Satellite Radio station, which was carried on XM for 4 years. She was the on-air host for VH1 and Westwood One’s live broadcast of The Concert for New York City, carried in every major market nationwide, in more than 13 countries, online and on Armed Forces radio. Chambers is now in charge of developing radio programming for several MTVN brands, and she hosts VH1’s nationally syndicated Best Week Ever Radio program. On TV, Maria narrated VH1’s Don’t Quote Me for two full seasons, and has made appearances on several VH1 shows, including 100 Awesomely Bad Diirty Songs, VH1’s Top 20 Countdown, and the Top 40 of…year-end countdowns. Additionally, Chambers has had a recurring role as a reporter on ABC’s All My Children, and is the character voice of Toni for the Grand Theft Auto video game series including the latest Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. |
