>Why are my downloads slow?

Download times: If the user is not using the latest version of IE (IE5.5 SP2) then the internals of some other browsers will still be able to download files but, the downloads are not guaranteed to run as fast. This is a browser issue and not the speed of the files being serviced.

Multiple downloads: If the downloads take 3 times as long and you are attempting many at the same time then you will notice a serious lag. Many of these files are very large and longer download times can be expected. We have tested many browsers and each on different OSs and noticed that speed was an issue in browsers that were not the latest version but were working.

>Why Realdownload doesn't work.
Issue: Under previous procedures, the client was able to use "Real Download" to download via FTP several files at the same time. While multiple downloads are available to users the use of third party download applications will not work with the new security schema. All applications that use FTP protocols to pull files from the internet are ineffective with the new security framework. This is because FTP protocol requires an absolute path for a resource to download. The new security schema does not allow for pulls across the internet but rather pushes files and resources to the client machine through the browser only. Only browser access to files is available to get files and resources. Real Download and other download managers no longer function to retrieve protected files.

>What should I do if my download is given a Zip file extension instead of .mp3?
Right click on the file, and choose rename. Rename the file with the .mp3 file extension.

  • Why does this happen?
The extension is wrong because of missing MIME extensions within the browser version.

>How can I make sure I have the correct MIME extensions?
Make sure to install IE 5.5 SP2 which is required for download through our security application.
